Our new home!
Hi all, just wanted to share that we bought a place!
It is not an arrangement that everyone is familiar with, but more common that we thought,.. it behaves like a strata condo but is called an equity co-operative (basically you own shares in a building company, it was more common in the 50s, 60s and can drive prices way down). This is not lease land related, the co-op does own the land.

We tripped upon this because a place in our current neighbourhood was for sale and we looked at the seller realtor's page and say there was a unit we knew and loved from the outside at Kits Beach (Kits Point).
It is an Art Deco building with 10 units and a (hopefully not too) tight community of mostly retirees. Our unit is a 1 bedroom very similar to the rental we live in now with some old school character that we like.We had grown frustrated with lack of park land near us and decided.. let's move across the street from one. We know it will be extremely busy in the summer but that is hard to complain about. A few other risks do concern us (like the open sky view might eventually be a building if the Billy Bishop Legion is torn down which seems inevitable). But really, this place is location, location, location and the beginning of an even more carless life with hill-less bike paths in all directions and amenities walkable much closer than we even have now.Laura currently tried to swim at Kits pool weekly in the summer,... it will now be across the street as will be picnic tables, the beach and much more. I've always loved Hadden Park and easy ocean access.
We are very excited.
The picture below are not our furniture (obviously).
We move in on December 21st.

Looks awesome! Enjoy and good luck with the move.
